Happy Thanksgiving from the LeFleur East Foundation!

There’s a lot to be thankful for in our supercommunity–and year’s end always lends itself to ubiquitous Top 10 lists. So, here are the Top Ten Things The LE Foundation Is Thankful For in 2015:

10. The Pearl River – The Mighty Pearl borders LE’s east side, which means “no thru traffic” for most of LE’s great neighborhoods.

9. Lakeland Drive – Speaking of traffic, we’ve all cursed Lakeland Drive from time to time. But nobody would disagree that it’s an excellent thoroughfare leading to great things in Flowood and beyond. Plus, go the other way and it leads straight to Fondren, LE’s dynamic neighbor across the interstate. (In fact, we love it so much, the Foundation is leading a beautification effort for the Lakeland median!)

8. Dedicated Retailers – Just like Fondren, LE has no shortage of varied and lively retailers, some of whom have called our area home since we were kids. (Here’s a great idea–give them ALL a visit this coming Small Business Saturday!)

7. Delicious Restaurants – Are you kidding? LeFleur East boasts dozens of eateries, all offering delicious, convenient, quality food.

6. Visitors, Visitors, Visitors – Of course, our restaurants & retailers aren’t just here for LE residents. Our area has long been a destination for the entire city to enjoy–and #5 is a key reason for that.

5. Exit 100 – Interstate 55 borders LE to the west, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. In addition to Lakeland Drive, the Interstate and Exit 100 offer visitors and residents alike easy & convenient access to everything LeFleur East has to offer.

4. Excellent Neighborhoods – Whether you live in LE, grew up in LE, work in LE or simply drive through from time to time…there’s no question that LeFleur East is home to some of the state’s most beautiful neighborhoods.

3. Parks & Museums Galore – LeFleur East boasts the city’s widest variety of museums & parks, including the city’s only state park! Hit up the websites of the LeFleur Museum District and LeFleur’s Bluff State Park to learn more.

2. Great Places to Worship – In addition to all of the above, LE features a variety of great churches.

1. Wonderful Residents – Of course, LeFleur East would be nothing without YOU. LE’s roughly 2,000 households are the primary reason why retailers, restaurants, churches and schools (shout out to JA!) do so well here. Likewise, we’re thankful for your support of our organization. After all, the mission of the LeFleur East Foundation is to make “all of the above” as successful and accessible as humanly possible.

Once again, thank you all for your support. Please forward this to your fellow residents and ask them to subscribe to our newsletter. We have much more to share with you over the next several months! Truly, 2016 is going to be a great year for LE.

This month’s LeFleur East Business Spotlight shines on Highland Village, a staple of our community and a huge supporter of the LE Foundation. If you haven’t strolled through this newly renovated shopping destination, you’re missing out on some of Jackson’s most unique boutiques, restaurants and retailers. Highland Village was gracious enough to give away more than $2000 in “Jingle Coins” at our LeFleur East Community Forum in September. So please help us show our appreciation by patronizing its many merchants and restaurants. (Highland Village’s Jingle Coins are essentially gift certificates that can be used anywhere in Highland Village–so they make excellent Christmas Gifts.)

Want to see your business in the spotlight? Contact us to learn how we can make that happen!

Don’t miss “Snowflakes Under the Stars” in LE! Featuring Santa himself, Frank the Camel (yes, Frank the REAL CAMEL) and much more. Click the graphic above for more info on Highland Village’s Facebook page.

It’s no secret that LeFleur East is home to some of Jackson’s finest restaurants and eateries. Beginning in 2016, we’ll be spotlighting a different place to eat right here in this space each and every month.

Feel free to contact LE for information about how your restaurant can be featured here and elsewhere in our weekly, monthly and quarterly communications.

So many influential, energetic residents call LeFleur East home that it’s hard to single out just one for recognition. And yet…that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Each and every month, we want to feature a resident of LeFleur East right here in this space.
