Stacey Jordan, our Executive Director had the honor and pleasure to meet with David Hollingsworth – the President and CEO of Goodwill Mississippi. Stacey wanted to meet with David to learn more about Goodwill, its mission and the impact that Goodwill has on LeFleur East and the Jackson area as a whole.
Goodwill of Mississippi was born in 1957 and the store in LeFleur East opened in April 2016. Goodwill has for mission to assist people with disabilities and other barriers to obtain employment.
The jobs created by Goodwill fosters a stronger community by providing services and support to individuals who want to work but have encountered challenges to obtaining employment through conventional methods.
The Goodwill in LeFleur East focuses on giving people a second chance and changing lives for the better. Goodwill has a great education system in place that allows employees to finish school or go back to school and get a new degree. We often forget or do not understand the mission behind Goodwill which is a shame because their mission is great – Goodwill has brick-and-mortars stores to employ people with disabilities or give them a second chance, help them achieve their goals and create new opportunities for them.
Each item donated to Goodwill will either be sold at the store in LeFleur East, in one of two Goodwill Outlet stores (located in Metro Center and Centre Park stores) or they will sold as cleaning cloths or sold to salvage brokers who market the goods to developing countries internationally. Items donated to Goodwill will do some good along the way.
We are so glad Stacey could learn more about Goodwill and officially welcome them to the neighborhood. If you are doing a Fall cleaning or need fun items for Halloween, be sure to stop by there – everyone is so welcoming and will be thrilled to help you out!

- Their hours are: Monday-Saturday / 10am-8pm.
- They provide a pick-up service if you cannot carry the items to the store.
- They have a great collection of Halloween items.
